Samsung Galaxy Note Recall Now Mandatory

South Korean company Samsung have already called a voluntary recall, but now US regulators have made this mandatory. The Chairman of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that all consumers should take advantage for this recall immediately due to the products being major fire hazards.

Samsung believes the issue to be related to 2.5 million devices all round the world. One million of these are said by Samsung to be in the USA. This is a very embarrassing and financially critical time for this to happen to Samsung. Apple has just launched its new Smartphone, the flagship iPhone 7.  While Apple is selling, Samsung is melting!

Galaxy Note Recall – Samsung Wrong

Mr. Kaye stated that Samsung was wrong in attempting the Galaxy Note recall itself. He said that no company on its own can provide the best possible recall for the customer or consumer.  He went on to add that any person making a decision like that needs more than the phone examined.

To date, there have been 92 reports in the US regarding overheating lithium batteries during and just after charging. There were 55 reports of property damage and 26 of burns, including a serious burn to a child. These figures were taken from the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.  According to the company’s American president, Samsung will accelerate the recall. He stated that “consumer safety is always our highest priority.”

Galaxy Note Recall a Disaster For Samsung

After coming under fire for this issue over the past, weeks, Samsung has stated that it stopped sales of the Note 7 and would replace any already sold. It also stated, as reported on Market.biz. that it would limit the battery charge to 60% of the maximum.

Although the Galaxy Note 7 phablet had been well received by users, this issue has put dampeners on what seemed to be a very successful launch ahead of Apple’s iPhone 7. The Galaxy Note recall is a disaster for the company. Samsung will have to work very hard to recover from this.
